Would you like a Baconator with your Hugo?

Not to be outdone by McDonald’s Hugo, Wendy’s has released the Baconator, a monstrosity of grease and calories. Here are just a few facts from the fast food giant’s latest fat bomb:

  • This “mountain of mouth-watering taste” consists of two 1/4 lb beef patties, 2 slices of American cheese, mayo, cheese sauce (’cause two slices of cheese ain’t enough), and to top it all off, a whopping six strips of bacon
  • The burger contains 830 calories and 51 grams of fat (22 grams of which are saturated)
  • The “cheese sauce” is made of a frighteningly long list of ingredients, the majority of which sound like chemical waste: Cheddar Cheese Solids (cheddar cheese [milk, salt, cheese cultures, enzymes], whey, buttermilk, salt, disodium phosphate and artificial color [yellow 5 and 6]), Modified Food Starch, Whey, Coconut Oil, Corn Syrup Solids, Salt, Natural and Artificial Flavors (modified food starch, maltodextrin, cheddar cheese [milk, cheese cultures, salt, enzymes], butter, partially hydrogenated cottonseed and soybean oil, natural and artificial flavor, autolyzed yeast extract, sodium phosphate, medium chain triglycerides, tricalcium phosphate, silicon dioxide, corn syrup solids, salt, tocopherol and triethyl citrate), Non Fat Dry Milk, Tricalcium Phosphate, Sodium Alginate, Sodium Caseinate (a milk derivative), Dipotassium Phosphate, Lactic Acid, Sugar, Mono and Diglycerides, Yeast Extract, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Soy Lecithin, Calcium Gluconate, Xanthan Gum, Disodium Inosinate, Sodium Phosphate and Annatto.
  • If you make it a Combo as their sign suggests, the calorie count goes up to 1470 calories and 71 grams of fat

Ian Jenkins has a photo of what a real Baconator looks like; it’s actually scarier than the calorie count.
