If you couldn’t tell from our blissful journey across Scotland with Tim’s bad-ass Meindl Hiking Boots, we both love hiking. As Tim explained, a good pair of waterproof boots is essential for a long hike in a place like England, where the sun can turn to cloud before you can say “I wish I packed my rain jacket!”
But there’s more to happy feet than just good hiking boots. Fitsugar has a few other tips to keep your feet pain free. Here’s a summary
- Buy hiking boots
that cover your ankle - and make em’ waterproof if the climate is prone to showers
- Trim your toenails before the hike - long toenails can bruise or even fall off, which is really really painful, and quite gross
- Wear good socks - Fitsugar recommends wicking socks, I personally love my Smartwool Light Hiker Socks
. In fact, they are basically the only sock I wear. Ever.
- Be ready for blisters - Compeed is the ultimate blister pad, but a keeping a few band-aids around is a good idea, too
- Rest
