Monica, I used this recipe last night and it was delicious! My meat-eating boyfriend and sister gobbled the dal down. Will definitely make this again. Thanks!

Spelling correction noted and fixed! My apologies for getting that wrong, Gyanish. And thanks for the comment! I'm a vegetarian so chicken and mutton are off the menu for me, but I know that many curries pair well with dal (give me anything with cauliflower and I'm in heaven). I usually have dal as the main dish, with a side of something leafy like spinach (mmm, saag aloo) or cabbage (cooked or as a salad, with mustard and coriander seeds, coriander leaves, and coconut). I think more and more cultures are learning the cuisine thanks in large part to the many people moving from India to the UK and America and sharing their food. That's how I learned.

Thanks again for the post. I just found your blog the other day; it's great to find a source of info that's a.) written by a health professional and 2.) comprehensible to the rest of us!

Hello Monica. I never knew other cultures were familiar with indian cuisine and even more knew what Dal is. Here in France, they are not that well accustomed to indian cuisine. I'm gonna try this dal recipe. Dal goes well with chicken or mutton curry.

Btw my name is Gyanish. There is only 1 "a" in it. ;)

And the recipes are from my buddy Harry and not me.

Thanks....
