Back in London (but not for long)

Coffee Break: Soy Cappuccino at Camden Coffee House

Tim and I are back in London from our long trip to the States. It's been a mad week, but we expected it: this is the week we move into our new home in the countryside!

I'm trying not to let the mania of travel and moving lure me into the temptation of crap food and meals out. Instead, I'm trying to use up some of the food we have in the house, especially the stuff in the freezer that won't travel well. These past couple days were the first days in months I failed to take photos for my food diary, but I've dug my camera out of my suitcase and am back on it. In the meantime, here's a brief summary of my food diary since getting back to London.

Monday, July 13

Got back into London. Started packing.

Breakfast: Fruit on the plane.

Lunch: Fruit and Sheep's Milk Yogurt at Home

Dinner: Falafel (freezer) with cucumber, tomato and red onion salad

Tuesday, July 14

Packing and loading the truck.

Breakfast: Oatmeal with banana

Lunch: Chickpeas cooked with sauteed onion, garlic, stewed tomatoes and spinach. Served over penne pasta. (This was a thrown together meal that turned out quite good!)

Dinner: Baked BBQ tofu made with Veganomicon's Backyard BBQ Sauce (more freezer fodder), served with quinoa and a big giant salad.

Wednesday, July 15

Tim moved the first load of stuff to the barn while I stayed in London for a meeting and a job interview for another teaching gig at the Open University.

Breakfast: Bircher muesli with strawberries, blueberries and banana.

Lunch: Wrap made with leftover BBQ tofu, salad, avocado and pickles. Consumed with a bottle of sparkling water outside the Cafe Nero in Victoria.

Coffee: Soy milk cappuccino and a Lotus Caramelized Biscuit at Camden Coffee House.

Dinner: Red lentil dal with spinach and peas (spinach and peas came out of the freezer), brown rice, salad. I actually managed to take a photo of this one!

Dinner: Red Lentil Dal with Spinach and Peas

That meal looks awesome! Yum!

How did you manage to get fruit for breakfast on the plane? We tried that before, but they could only give us a really nasty vegetarian meal. I suppose it depends on the airline...

Good luck with your move!

Thanks guys! The vegan meal on American Airlines actually came with some fruit, and I brought some extra fruity goodness of my own. I'm sure it depends on the airline.

Katharina - be sure to share pics of your new place! Good luck with the move!! And happy packing...

Welcome back and all the best with your move!!! It sure is going to be exciting to live in the more secluded coutryside - so much more natural and peaceful!

I am actually taking off myself for a couple of weeks to a cottage up north, so I look forward on catching up on your adventures when I get back in August :)
