Remember when you were a little kid and your parents would take you to the playground and you’d be so excited that you’d run around all over the park from one slide to the next without stopping?
That’s what circuit training is like. Only you’re grown up now, and you don’t need mom’s permission.
fitSugar has a good post on getting started with circuits. I like that their workout suggestions are all things you can do at home or out in a field (that’s right, no gym!).
Here are a few basic guidelines to follow when dreaming up a circuit program:
You want to make sure you’re working each muscle group (legs, glutes, back, abs, chest and arms).
Try to include some agility training – jumping side to side over a book, or jumping rope would do the trick.
Make sure you focus on speed at some point in the circuit (this element should remind you of doing intervals from a cardio workout).
You can use hand weights, physio balls, medicine balls and other probs or just go old school calisthenics (bring the burpee back!)
