  • Wednesday night fermenting! Trialling a new #sauerkraut for the @eatsleepwild shop. Cabbage, carrot, jalapeño (homegrown!) and turmeric kraut. 🥕 This one will be ace in tacos! 🌮

  • My latest pickled experiment has turned out looking a lot like giardiniera! Totally different flavour profile, though. This is a version of “chow chow”, an American pickled relish with seemingly endless variations. I’ve always wanted to have a go at this, having enjoyed a cabbage-heavy version of chow chow in Texas many moons ago. This I’ve since learned is typical of Southern Style chow chows. Northern styles, like this one, contain a myriad of veg including green tomatoes (thank you @simbasunflower!), beans, carrots, peppers, and cauliflower. Having looked at other pictures of chow chow I wonder if I should have cut my vegetables into smaller pieces. Maybe some of my U.S. friends in the know can clue me in!
