A good day for food yesterday, even if I didn’t have my liquid dinner. But I also didn’t stuff my face. It seems when I eat with other people, I eat less – whoa!
Breakfast: Green juice of champions. Interesting enough for its own blog post: “Enzyme-Rich” Green Juice: The Savoury Smoothie
Lunch: Chipotle bean soup with avocado (leftovers rule). I’m in love with this stuff – it’s my substitute for veggie chilli, which I can’t really have on the detox because it usually includes tomatoes. More on the soup in Clean Detox Day 3.
Dinner: Chargrilled Cauliflower Salad with Tomato, Dill and Capers, barbecued courgettes and little gem lettuces with salsa macha, brown rice, a pear
I cooked for my [incredibly awesome] Airbnb guests last night – they requested a veggie barbecue, something clean and simple to precede a long-haul flight the next day. So I made Ottolenghi’s Chargrilled Cauliflower Salad with Tomato, Dill and Capers, potato salad with tarragon vinaigrette, romano peppers stuffed with smoky chickpeas (an adaptation of Rachel Demuth’s Slow-Roasted Red Peppers with Smoky Chickpeas, grilled courgettes and little gem lettuces with salsa macha, and brown rice. To drink: cucumber lime agua fresca and for dessert, the famous avocado ice cream with strawberries.
Once again I am appreciating that this detox is not socially exclusive. I was able to have dinner with my guests, partaking of the detox friendly items – the cauliflower salad (sans tomatoes), the grilled courgettes and little gems and the brown rice. Best of all everything was super delicious and the guests were thrilled – I basically made them food I would want to eat the night before a long flight and I think it was their ideal, too.
And as a detox learning, I think I’m going to do this grilled veg + grain (+ beans in the future) thing more often. It’s so easy and especially tasty when using salsa macha as the oil for basting the veggies (a trick I stumbled upon at my recent campout in Minchinhampton, where I first learned of this whole detox malarkey!).

It’s just killing me that I can’t get your blog to show up in Feedly–I seriously have 4 different attempts! Trying the newest one with your Feedburner link in Feedly…maybe it’ll work now? I guess I have a lot to catch up on!
I’m loving your detox and becoming totally inspired–G has been having a ton of issues with gut bacteria (he had to go on antibiotics again this past week and it just wiped him out again) and I know a detox/clean food month is exactly what we both need. Can’t wait to try out some of the recipes, especially that bean chipotle soup. Yum!
