As I’ve stated before, I’m not vegan, but I like to play one on TV. So in doing this whole VeganMoFo thing, I’m prompted to think about when and where the vegan thing fits into my life.

Take last weekend’s apple shortcake, for instance. This pie was a modern miracle made possible in part by eggs, butter and milk. So far I have not discovered an apple-based vegan dessert nearly as exquisite. And while it’s fine for me to have lesser dessert at home by myself, if I’m having guests over for dinner, I want to make them the best dessert I possibly can make, and unfortunately that’s not usually vegan!

I want someone to prove me wrong on this one. And I don’t want them to do it with Earth Balance margarine or some other weird non-food ingredient. I want a vegan dessert that stands on its own.

Any suggestions?
